Oh gosh where do I start?? The words that would describe our adventure would be – fun, lovely, unique, memories, childhood, reunite, wonderings (especially that one of Tim’s : “I wonder if there’re poisinis snackes in Russia?” , remember that one?? haha) , chocolate, wine, friends, family, walking, amazement, real, extreme, Shanson, beautiful women, laughter, spring. Lots of the photos I brought back are very personal to me and I wanted to share at least a few of them with you, so you could get a bit of a glimpse into my life.
We started and finished our trip in Moscow – I’m not a fan of big cities, but I have to admit that the Moscow architecture is simply amazing!! I could probably photograph every inch of it and still not get bored. I highly recommend Russia for travel photographers – it’s just an treat for the camera. *wink*
Apart from Moscow we went to Yaroslavl (the city where my husband is from) and Ukhta (my home town). Brought back so many sweet memories and gained so many new ones…
Moscow. Red Square.
Yaroslavl. Russia.
Alex’s beautiful Mom making a delicious breakfast for us! YUM!
My first school. When I was in grade 1 my grandpa would walk me. When it would be winter I remember crossing this river on ice when going to school, it only took me 5 minutes to get to school from home – walking through the park and then the river. It’s funny how perspective of time/distance shifts with age – when I was little that walk to school seemed so long and this time I realized how quickly the moments/people pass through our life and how we need to make a conscious effort to notice.
My beautiful wonderful grandma. I loved our baking sessions when I was growing up – oh the pelmeni’s and those millions of different buns. I don’t know how I didn’t end up weighing 3 tons after devouring all that deliciousness and I wish I got her mad baking skills! Love you, grandma!!
One more favourite grandma (Tim’s great grandma!) who Tim is almost the same height with and they even played football together!! She’s so super awesome!!! xoxox
Tim had a blast staying up late to go see the fireworks celebrating the Russian’s victory in World War 2.
My younger brother with his gorgeous wife and a cutie baby boy!!!
We had an impromptu photo session with my little bro and his wife – too bad he only lasted 10 minutes. haha
Love you all and miss you all already!!
P.S. After our trip Tim established there’re no poisonous snakes in Russia.
P.P.S. I think I need to refresh my baking skills.
P.P.P.S. 3 weeks is NOT enough to go see family who we haven’t seen for 7 years, next trip is in order!
What a blessing to me to view the pictures that you shared. The pictures in Moscow warmed my heart because they brought back special memories of my trips to Russia. I thought, "My how good God is that He gave Sveta a sun-shinny day in Moscow. The pictures are the best I have seen of the sites there.
So glad you finally got to go. I know it is something Tim will cherish and never forget. What a blessing it was to all your sweet family to have you there. Love you, Maisie
Thanks Maisie!! xoxox
