35th Wedding Anniversary: Ruth and Ed

I’ve always thought about what it feels like to be married to someone for so many years…25, 35, 50…Alex and I have been together for almost 11 years and married for 8, and (get ready for major cheese right now, internet! :)) I could not wish for a better husband (cheesy but true). My grandparents were married for over 50 years, they were true soulmates. I wish I was doing photography back then so I could capture them together! I cannot stress how important photos are to me now, there are so may moments I would love to look back at in a photo but can only rely on my memory.

That’s why this session with Ruth and Ed was so meaningful to me. I could see my grandparents in them – loving, goofy and happy. It’s amazing to witness that. It was one of my most favourite photo sessions this year.

When we were done and were walking back to our cars I asked Ruth:

-So what’s it like to be married to Ed for 35 years?

~She says (smiling):

-Oh it’s been great! He’s got very warped sense of humour though.

I laughed remembering all the sharp and funny remarks Ed made during our session and at that moment Ed looked at Ruth as he missed our conversation:

-What did she say?, – nodding at me

-She asked what’s it like to be married to you, – repeated Ruth laughing and raising the tone of her voice so Ed could hear.

Ed looked at me and said with the most serious face pointing at Ruth:

– She’s going to pass on soon, so what’s your number?……

Both Ruth and I burst out laughing!!

Warped sense of humour all right! :):):)

I had a blast! Wishing you many many years of happiness together, Ed and Ruth!

  1. Oh my. I love these so so so much. Not to get all sentimental or anything but now-a-days one of the few things that convinces me of true love is seeing couples that have been together over the decades still head over heels in love like these two. Thanks for sharing 🙂
